IHG Hotels & Resorts is preparing to reintroduce the InterContinental brand to the Czech capital, confirming plans to open InterContinental Prague in the first half of 2029. The luxury property will occupy a historic 1839 building in the heart of Old Town, placing guests steps away from Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, and the Prague Astronomical Clock.
The announcement marks a significant return for the brand, which previously operated in the city before the hotel transitioned to the Fairmont Golden Prague.
The upcoming 137-room hotel is designed to blend heritage architecture with modern luxury. Plans include a signature restaurant and bar, a Club InterContinental lounge, a spa with a pool, a private garden, and a selection of meeting and conference spaces. IHG notes that the property’s central location and historic character will anchor its appeal for both leisure and business travelers.
InterContinental Prague is part of IHG’s broader strategy to grow its luxury portfolio across Europe. The project also contributes to Prague’s rising development momentum, reinforcing the city’s position as one of the region’s most sought-after cultural and tourism destinations ahead of the next decade.
