HX Expeditions has unveiled its full roster of 2027–28 Galápagos itineraries while extending its partnership with Metropolitan Touring, owner of the 50-passenger MS Santa Cruz II.
The original five-year charter agreement will now run through 2029, reinforcing the companies’ shared focus on responsible, science-driven exploration in one of the world’s most fragile ecosystems. Bookings for the new season are set to open on December 22, 2025.
The upcoming lineup includes routes beginning or ending in Quito or Guayaquil, offering travelers deeper access to Ecuador’s marquee destinations. The nine-day “Eastern Route: In Darwin’s Footsteps” will stop at Santa Cruz, Española and San Cristobal, while a 14-day version adds a five-day pre-cruise stay in Machu Picchu.
These extended options broaden the experience into Peru, combining Galápagos exploration with one of South America’s most iconic archaeological sites.
HX will also operate an 11-day “Northern & Western Route: Nine of the Best Isles,” sailing from Quito and visiting nine islands across the archipelago. A 16-day version begins in Lima and incorporates Machu Picchu alongside the full island circuit.
According to CEO Gebhard Rainer, the seasonal expansion exemplifies HX’s mission to connect travelers with extraordinary natural environments through conservation-centered travel.
