Universal Orlando Resort is preparing to bring the high-octane world of Fast & Furious to life with a major new attraction set to open in 2027. The resort has confirmed plans for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a next-generation outdoor roller coaster that will deliver a radically different experience from anything currently operating at the park.

The new coaster will replace the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida, which closed last year. In addition, Universal will permanently shutter the Fast & Furious – Supercharged ride in 2027, signaling a complete reimagining of how the franchise is represented within the park.

According to Universal, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will push thrill design to new extremes. Riders can expect the sensation of 360-degree drifting, mimicking high-speed car stunts from the film series. One of the coaster’s signature features will be a 170-foot vertical spike, launching guests nearly 17 stories into the air above the edge of Universal CityWalk before plunging them back into the ride’s intense layout.

The attraction is designed to emphasize speed, motion, and gravity-defying maneuvers rather than traditional storytelling alone, aligning with Universal’s broader strategy of delivering more adrenaline-focused experiences. A similar version of the coaster is also expected to debut at Universal Studios Hollywood, further reinforcing Fast & Furious as a flagship thrill brand across Universal’s U.S. parks.

For travelers and theme park fans, the new coaster adds another compelling reason to plan future trips to Orlando, especially as Universal continues expanding its lineup of marquee attractions ahead of the late 2020s.
