Alaska Airlines has placed the largest aircraft order in its history, exercising options for 105 Boeing 737 Max 10 jets and ordering five additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The deal also includes options for 35 more Max 10s, bringing Alaska’s total orderbook with Boeing to 245 aircraft.
The Max 10, the largest variant of Boeing’s Max family, will support capacity growth and replace older 737 aircraft, allowing Alaska to carry more passengers per flight on high-demand routes while lowering per-seat costs. Alaska already operates 94 Max 8 and Max 9 aircraft.
The Dreamliner order expands Alaska’s widebody fleet as the carrier builds its long-haul ambitions from Seattle, including newly launched routes to Europe alongside existing Asia services. In total, Alaska Air Group expects its fleet to grow from 413 aircraft today to more than 550 by 2035.
The announcement coincides with Alaska receiving its first repainted 787 featuring the airline’s new aurora-inspired livery.
