Travel Guard CEO Jeffrey Rutledge will retire on March 1, concluding nearly 20 years at the helm of one of the travel industry’s leading insurance brands.

Rutledge’s tenure spanned periods of expansion, global partnership development and most recently a major ownership transition. In 2024, Travel Guard was acquired by Zurich Cover-More from AIG, marking a significant shift in the company’s corporate structure. Zurich Cover-More CEO Chris Vink thanked Rutledge for his leadership during that transition and for guiding the company through a complex integration process.

In a statement, Rutledge said it had been an honor to work alongside the Travel Guard team and its global partners, highlighting the brand’s evolution into part of the Zurich Cover-More family.

Travel Guard remains a major provider of travel insurance products distributed through travel advisors, tour operators and other travel suppliers. As of now, no successor has been named.

The leadership change comes at a time when travel insurance continues to play a critical role in trip planning, with travelers increasingly prioritizing protection against disruptions, cancellations and unforeseen events.
