Hilton has introduced a new artificial intelligence-powered travel planning tool designed to help guests explore its global hotel portfolio and organize trips through conversational search. The company announced that the new feature, called the Hilton AI Planner, is currently in beta testing on its website and will initially be available to a limited group of users.

According to Hilton, the tool functions as a digital concierge that can guide travelers through the planning process, from choosing destinations to comparing hotels and exploring amenities. Instead of traditional search filters, users can interact with the system using natural language, asking questions about travel preferences, locations, or types of stays.

The launch reflects the growing use of generative AI in travel planning and the broader hospitality industry’s shift toward more personalized digital experiences. Hilton said the tool is designed to provide real-time responses and curated recommendations to simplify the booking journey for travelers.

A Conversational Approach to Hotel Discovery

The Hilton AI Planner uses conversational intelligence to interpret user questions and deliver suggestions across the company’s network of hotels worldwide. Travelers can ask questions such as where to find family-friendly beach destinations or which Hilton properties are near ski resorts.

According to Hilton, the goal is to create a more intuitive way for travelers to explore options and identify properties that match their preferences. The system can guide users through multiple steps of trip planning, including identifying destinations, comparing accommodations, and reviewing available amenities.

Michael Leidinger, Hilton’s senior vice president and chief information officer, said the launch is part of the company’s broader effort to modernize the digital guest experience. He noted that Hilton has previously introduced several technology-driven services, including Digital Key access, Connected Room technology, and tools that allow guests to book confirmed connecting rooms.

The new AI planner builds on those initiatives by integrating generative AI into the early stages of the travel planning process.

Hospitality Industry Moves Toward AI Travel Planning

Hilton’s move reflects a wider trend in the hospitality sector as major hotel companies increasingly adopt artificial intelligence to improve search and booking experiences. Several competitors are exploring similar tools designed to support conversational travel planning.

Marriott International, for example, has said it plans to introduce natural language search across its website and Bonvoy mobile app. The company is also experimenting with AI-powered booking tools developed in partnership with major technology firms.

IHG Hotels and Resorts has also been working with Google on conversational search capabilities aimed at simplifying hotel discovery and booking.

Hilton said the AI Planner will evolve over time as the company analyzes user behavior and feedback from the beta launch. Insights from early usage are expected to guide improvements to the system and expand its capabilities.

The company views the new tool as part of a broader effort to develop a more connected digital ecosystem that supports travelers before, during, and after their stays.
