Iberia has confirmed that a cyberattack on a system operated by one of its technology contractors exposed select customer data, making it the latest airline hit in a growing wave of industry-wide breaches.

The carrier notified affected passengers by email, stating that names, email addresses, and loyalty program numbers may have been accessed, while passwords and banking information remained secure.

The incident comes after a series of similar hacks targeting major airlines including Qantas, Hawaiian, WestJet, Air France-KLM, and Aeroflot. Cybersecurity analysts warn that attackers are increasingly focusing on aviation, identifying it as an industry with inconsistent protections and high-value personal data.

Iberia has urged customers to remain vigilant, report suspicious messages, and contact its call center with any concerns. The airline said it is working with partners to strengthen security and prevent further breaches as threats across the sector continue to escalate.
