Norwegian Cruise Line has launched its newest ship, Norwegian Luna, which welcomed its first guests on March 10 in Civitavecchia, Italy. The vessel is now sailing an inaugural transatlantic voyage to Miami, where it will be officially christened on March 27 before beginning regular cruise operations.

Norwegian Luna is the second ship in the cruise line’s Prima Plus class and a sister ship to Norwegian Aqua. Ships in this class are about 10% larger than the earlier Prima-class vessels Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, allowing for expanded outdoor spaces and new onboard attractions.

Among the ship’s highlights is Luna Midway, an outdoor entertainment area inspired by carnival-style games. Horizon Park offers open-air lawn games and relaxation areas, while the Moon Climber obstacle course provides a multi-level adventure attraction.

The ship also introduces several new entertainment productions, including “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John,” a concert-style tribute show, alongside a classic rock performance dedicated to the Eagles and a science-fiction themed production titled “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder.”

After arriving in Miami, Norwegian Luna will operate short Bahamas cruises and seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries through November.
