Hyatt is preparing a significant expansion in Portugal, unveiling plans for two new hotels in Lisbon as well as additional properties in the Algarve region and Cape Verde.
The move reflects the company’s continued focus on Southern Europe, where demand for upscale hospitality and branded residential offerings continues to grow. The openings will also broaden Hyatt’s brand presence in a key tourism and investment market.
Andaz Lisbon, set to debut in the first quarter of 2026, will mark the brand’s first appearance in Portugal. The 170-room hotel will feature a rooftop restaurant, terrace lounge and fitness center, positioning it firmly within Lisbon’s expanding luxury landscape.
Also launching in 2026, The Standard, Lisbon will occupy the restored Palácio Santa Clara and include 197 rooms, a rooftop terrace, spa and landscaped gardens. Both properties will complement the existing Hyatt Regency Lisbon, which opened in 2022.
Beyond the capital, Hyatt is also developing new Hyatt Regency properties in the Algarve and in Cape Verde. The company sees these destinations as strategic growth markets, offering strong appeal for leisure travelers and long-term hospitality investment.
According to Hyatt’s Iberia development lead Helena Burstedt, the expansion reflects a commitment to bringing a wider portfolio of brands to high-demand regions across Portugal.
