Jumeirah is making a bold move into the world of high-end yacht travel, adding one of the world’s most iconic sailing superyachts to its Privé collection.

The Maltese Falcon, a celebrated 88-meter vessel renowned for its innovative DynaRig sailing system and award-winning design, will now operate as an ultra-luxury cruising experience curated entirely under the Jumeirah banner. This marks a strategic expansion for the hospitality brand, elevating its portfolio beyond hotels, private islands, and estates to include exclusive global voyages at sea.

After undergoing an extensive refit, the Maltese Falcon is preparing to welcome just 12 guests on bespoke journeys across the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Its inaugural sailing under Jumeirah Privé departs from Antigua this month, setting the stage for a new era of travel tailored to ultra-wealthy clients seeking privacy, personalization and exceptional service.

The yacht now reflects Jumeirah’s signature approach to design and hospitality, with refreshed interiors, refined amenities and upgraded engineering that enhance comfort and performance on the open water.

A New Standard of Ultra-Luxury Cruising

Jumeirah’s entry into yacht cruising is more than a portfolio expansion – it represents a shift toward fully customized, high-touch travel experiences. A dedicated wellness area, massage room, fitness studio, three-deck atrium and private VIP deck on the flybridge highlight the yacht’s focus on wellbeing and relaxation.

The master suite spans the full beam of the yacht, while four additional cabins offer spacious, beautifully designed accommodations. Outdoor spaces include a rotating circular sunbed and an outdoor cinema projected onto the lower sail, creating a dramatic setting for evenings at sea.

Recreational options further elevate the experience. Guests can enjoy jet skis, JetSurf boards, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and snorkeling gear, allowing for immersive exploration of secluded bays and coastline. Combined with Jumeirah’s signature culinary program and onboard wellness offerings, the superyacht delivers a floating retreat where every aspect is tailored to the traveler’s preferences.

Global Itineraries With Jumeirah’s Signature Touch

The Maltese Falcon will split its time between two of the world’s most coveted cruising regions. Summer itineraries cover the Mediterranean’s most glamorous destinations, from the Balearic Islands and French Riviera to Sardinia, the Amalfi Coast, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece and Türkiye. Winter will bring the yacht back to the Caribbean, sailing between Antigua, Saint Martin, St. Barth and the Bahamas, offering warm-weather escapes at the peak of the season.

For Jumeirah, the addition of this legendary vessel strengthens the Privé collection, which launched with Jumeirah Thanda Island in Tanzania. Both experiences reflect the brand’s vision of offering ultra-exclusive retreats that combine privacy, natural beauty and personalized service.

As Jumeirah continues its broader growth strategy, aiming to double its portfolio by 2030, luxury yachting is set to become a defining component of its expanding global presence.

Copenhagen Expands Its Tourism Innovation Globally With DestinationPay

Copenhagen’s new DestinationPay model brings its award-winning CopenPay concept to cities worldwide, rewarding travelers for sustainable and community-minded actions.

Copenhagen is redefining what responsible tourism can look like. With the launch of DestinationPay, unveiled at the European Tourism Forum, the Danish capital is inviting cities around the world to adopt its innovative approach to rewarding travelers for positive behavior.

The system expands on CopenPay, the award-winning program that lets visitors “earn” cultural experiences by contributing to the city’s wellbeing – whether by removing litter from canals, cycling instead of driving, or arriving at museums by bike. The message is simple: travelers don’t just observe a destination; they can actively improve it.

DestinationPay provides a framework that any city can tailor to its own cultural and environmental priorities. The model fits into a growing global movement where sustainability is more than a marketing buzzword. As the tourism sector heads toward 1.8 billion international arrivals by 2030, cities are searching for ways to balance visitor demand with long-term environmental stewardship. Copenhagen’s initiative aims to shift the conversation from consumption to contribution, inspiring travelers to see themselves as part of the communities they visit.

Interest in the program has been immediate and widespread. Since CopenPay’s initial rollout, more than 100 destinations have reached out to Wonderful Copenhagen to learn how to build their own versions. DestinationPay is the organization’s answer: an open invitation to co-create a new global travel culture where doing good is simply part of the journey.

Cities Already Following Copenhagen’s Lead

The program is already gaining momentum in Europe. Berlin will introduce its own version, BerlinPay, this summer. The city sees opportunities to encourage local engagement, promote greener transportation, and involve visitors more deeply in community-focused initiatives. Berlin’s tourism leaders emphasize that the strength of the model lies in its experiential approach – travelers see and feel the impact of their choices firsthand.

Normandy has also expressed strong interest. The region already operates a Low-Carbon Rate scheme that rewards visitors who travel by train, bus or bicycle, offering discounted entry to cultural sites. Inspired by Copenhagen’s approach, Normandy is now exploring how DestinationPay could boost behavioral change on a larger scale, particularly in reducing transportation emissions across the region. Their existing initiative began with the Juno Beach Museum, showing that even smaller attractions can influence traveler habits.

DestinationPay’s potential reaches far beyond Europe. As destinations across the world evaluate how to manage rising tourist numbers, the model offers a blueprint for fostering meaningful, sustainable engagement. Its framework is designed to scale – whether a city wants to incentivize cultural participation, environmental stewardship or community involvement.

For travelers, the new model signals a shift toward tourism that rewards both the visitor and the destination. It empowers people to contribute positively during their stay while gaining access to richer cultural experiences. With Copenhagen leading this global movement, DestinationPay marks a turning point in how cities imagine and shape the future of responsible travel.

Sofitel Unveils Global Repositioning, Embracing French Heritage With ‘French Zest’

Sofitel is returning to its French roots with a refreshed global brand vision centered on ‘French Zest,’ bringing new rituals, design collaborations, and elevated guest experiences to properties worldwide.

By Yuliya Karotkaya Published: Updated:

Sofitel is entering a new era, unveiling a brand repositioning designed to reconnect the luxury flag with its French heritage while elevating consistency across its global portfolio. Central to the refresh is the introduction of “French Zest,” a thematic approach meant to encapsulate the charm, creativity, and joie de vivre that define French culture.

The initiative was spotlighted in New York, where the 398-room Sofitel New York has just completed a full renovation and now serves as an early ambassador for this refreshed vision.

Guests at Sofitel New York can already experience the brand’s new identity through La Haute Croissanterie, a pastry concept that invites each hotel to craft its own signature croissant. In Manhattan, that expression takes the form of a cheesecake-inspired croissant, merging local flavor with French technique.

Another new ritual is the nightly candle-lighting ceremony, a nod to 1860s Paris streetlamps designed to bring a warm glow and a sense of intimacy to the lobby each evening. These experiential touches are paired with visual updates, including redesigned uniforms created by French designer Cordelia de Castellane and custom Bernardaud votive candles that reinforce the brand’s creative partnerships with leading French maisons.

The renovation of Sofitel New York aligns with a broader strategy to elevate the brand’s positioning in competitive urban markets. The refreshed suites are designed to attract higher-end travelers, while the hotel’s event spaces have been reimagined to appeal to weddings and social gatherings. A new fourth-floor social suite, complete with a spacious terrace, will open next year and further extend the property’s event capabilities. According to the hotel’s leadership, these upgrades are already drawing new clientele and expanding the hotel’s market reach.

French Zest is only one pillar of Sofitel’s new global framework, joined by Heartfelt Service, Cultural Link, and Committed Luxury. These elements reflect Sofitel’s effort to strengthen cohesion across nearly 120 hotels worldwide, including historic Sofitel Legend properties, urban destinations, resorts, residences, and airport hotels.

As part of the repositioning, Accor completed a network-wide assessment that resulted in several properties exiting the brand and more than 30 percent of the portfolio opting for renovation. Expansion also continues, with 39 new hotels expected to join the Sofitel network by 2030.

In North America, where the brand currently has six properties, the repositioning has sparked a wave of reinvestment following renovations in New York and Montreal. Sofitel locations in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Washington, and Chicago are all undergoing upgrades to align with the new brand standards. Travel advisors, who have long associated Sofitel with iconic European properties, say the refresh brings renewed attention to the brand’s offerings across markets.

Advisors note that Sofitel’s strong locations, spacious accommodations, and competitive commission rates make it an attractive choice for luxury travelers and families alike.

Taylor Swift’s reported plan to marry Travis Kelce at Rhode Island’s Ocean House has instantly turned one of New England’s most exclusive seaside retreats into the global travel story of the week.

As soon as reports surfaced about the June 13, 2026 date – chosen for its personal symbolism to the singer – the hospitality world took notice.

Ocean House has long been admired by luxury travelers, but Swift’s selection places the resort firmly in the center of cultural and travel conversations, sparking heightened demand and renewed curiosity about Watch Hill’s appeal.

Situated atop a bluff with sweeping Atlantic views, Ocean House is one of the rare hotels worldwide to earn Forbes 15-Star recognition across lodging, spa, and dining. For travelers drawn to destinations where history meets contemporary refinement, the property offers an impeccable blend of elegance, privacy, and coastal nostalgia.

Its grand lawns, terraces, and ballrooms create a cinematic setting – one that now carries the added intrigue of hosting one of the most anticipated celebrity weddings in recent memory.

The buzz around the event also underscores broader shifts in luxury travel, where curated celebrations, personalized service, and intimate oceanfront settings increasingly guide destination choices. Many travelers are already exploring the region for future escapes, inspired not only by Swift’s celebration but also by the area’s long-standing reputation for sailing culture, boutique charm, and timeless New England beauty.

This moment even connects naturally with Swift and Kelce’s getaway preferences highlighted in our previous coverage, including our earlier guide on their potential honeymoon destinations, which explored their affinity for privacy-focused, scenic, ultra-luxury retreats around the world.

Why Watch Hill Is Poised for a Tourism Boom

With global attention shifting toward Ocean House, Watch Hill is poised for a tourism surge – one that will likely extend beyond the wedding season. The village’s quiet beaches, heritage architecture, and curated collection of independent boutiques already attract discerning travelers. Now, many will arrive specifically to experience the atmosphere chosen by one of the world’s most influential entertainers.

Ocean House itself is engineered for high-end events, combining custom-designed menus by Executive Chef Terence Fuery, a dedicated team of wedding specialists, and versatile indoor-outdoor spaces that accommodate celebrations of all scales. This meticulous approach to hospitality reinforces Rhode Island’s emerging position as a premier coastal destination capable of standing alongside classic luxury favorites in California, the Hamptons, and the Caribbean.

For travelers, the story transcends celebrity interest – it’s an invitation to discover a seaside escape where sophistication, romance, and natural beauty intertwine. And in the world of luxury travel, few endorsements are as powerful as Taylor Swift choosing your coastline for her most intimate celebration.

AI Travel Concierge TravAI Rolls Out on NEAR and ADI Blockchain Networks

TravAI, a new AI-driven travel concierge built on NEAR and ADI Chain, aims to automate itinerary planning, booking, and payments for travelers.

By Yuliya Karotkaya Published: Updated:

Earlier this week, it was quietly announced that a new AI-powered travel platform called TravAI is entering the market, and it immediately captured attention across the travel tech landscape. TravAI reimagines how travelers plan and book trips by allowing them to simply tell an AI agent where they want to go and when.

From there, the system searches providers, builds a full itinerary, makes all necessary reservations, and completes payments – removing the lengthy, manual steps that typically define trip planning.

The platform is powered by ADI Chain, an enterprise-focused layer-2 blockchain that gives every booking a fast, auditable settlement process. TravAI supports payments in major digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, along with other tokens available through NEAR Intents.

The cross-chain engine automatically handles behind-the-scenes conversions, allowing users to pay in the asset they prefer without navigating any technical complexity. For travelers, it means a level of flexibility and transparency rarely seen in traditional booking systems.

TravAI is developed by Datrics, while ADI Chain is driven by Sirius International, a digital arm within the UAE’s IHC ecosystem. The platform targets both frequent individual travelers and corporate travel teams, especially those who need faster booking flows, automated recordkeeping, and cleaner expense reconciliation.

NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin described the launch as the beginning of “agentic commerce,” referring to AI systems capable of fully managing commercial workflows from start to finish. For the travel sector, it signals a shift toward intelligent automation that simplifies planning, reduces errors, and adapts instantly to user intent.

This launch also builds on NEAR’s rapid expansion into AI-related features. Earlier this month, the NEAR Foundation rolled out AI Cloud and Private Chat tools supported by hardware-backed privacy, already in use by projects that collectively reach more than 100 million users.

Meanwhile, NEAR Intents – the same engine that powers TravAI’s payment automation – has processed more than seven billion dollars in transaction volume since its introduction, underscoring its stability and scale.

Despite strong technological momentum, the NEAR token remains in a bearish range, trading below a key support level as broader market sentiment continues to lag fundamentals. Even so, partnerships with companies like Brave and Kalshi, along with the debut of advanced AI-driven tools, point to an ecosystem expanding well beyond its price chart.

TravAI is now inviting early users to join its waitlist, with enterprise-ready solutions available for organizations looking to modernize their travel operations. As the platform evolves, it could reshape how travelers interact with digital booking systems – turning long planning sessions into fast, AI-orchestrated experiences that reduce friction and elevate the journey from the very first step.

Ryanair is preparing for one of its biggest growth seasons in Poland with a record Summer 2026 schedule for Gdansk. The airline will base a sixth aircraft at the airport, representing a US$600 million investment in the region.

With the additional aircraft, Ryanair will add more than 300,000 seats for the season, a 16 percent increase that brings the total to 2.3 million seats across 43 routes. The expanded schedule includes five new destinations – Rome, Dubrovnik, Tirana, Palermo, and Bucharest – alongside increased frequencies on 17 popular routes such as Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, and Malta.

According to Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer Jason McGuinness, the expansion reinforces the airline’s commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and supporting inbound tourism. The new aircraft and routes position Gdańsk as a key gateway within the airline’s wider European network. Airport CEO Tomasz Kloskowski echoed this sentiment, noting that the investment reflects the region’s rising profile and the strong partnership between the airport and the airline.

Ryanair’s enhanced presence will help drive tourism, offer more affordable travel options, and support jobs across the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The announcement also includes a limited-time fare promotion, reflecting Ryanair’s strategy of pairing major network growth with competitive pricing to stimulate demand.

Liverpool: Continued Growth in the Northwest

Ryanair is also expanding in the UK, adding a sixth aircraft at Liverpool John Lennon Airport for Summer 2026. The additional aircraft marks another US$600 million investment and supports a 15 percent increase in capacity, with 250,000 extra seats and 34 total routes. Three new destinations – Marrakesh, Tirana, and Warsaw – will join the schedule, while 11 existing routes will see additional frequencies, including Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Ibiza, Krakow, and Malta.

Ryanair expects to carry more than 2.4 million passengers through Liverpool next year, reinforcing the airport’s status as a key base within the airline’s UK operations. CCO Jason McGuinness highlighted the importance of maintaining low fares and driving tourism, while also criticizing rising UK aviation taxes, which he argues limit growth at regional airports.

Liverpool Airport CEO John Irving welcomed the expansion, emphasizing the long-standing partnership between the airport and Ryanair and the economic benefits for the wider region.

With new aircraft, expanded schedules, and fresh routes across two major European markets, Ryanair’s Summer 2026 plans underline its aggressive growth strategy and commitment to offering more choice across its low-fare network.

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaching, American Airlines is rolling out a major expansion of its summer schedule to help fans reach every match across the 16 host cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The airline is adding more than 27,000 extra seats across 12 key routes, introducing new nonstop flights, and deploying larger aircraft during the tournament’s busiest weeks. The adjustments reflect American’s strategy to support one of the biggest travel events in North American history while offering fans greater flexibility for multi-city itineraries.

Expanded Routes Across Host Cities

The airline’s summer 2026 plan includes added frequencies and upgauged aircraft on some of its most in-demand routes. Travelers flying between Boston and Dallas Fort Worth, Atlanta and Miami, Los Angeles and Seattle, or Philadelphia and Toronto will see more options throughout June and July.

Additional service is coming to routes connecting Los Angeles and Vancouver, Dallas Fort Worth and San Jose, and Miami and Toronto, helping link fans to host cities across borders. New nonstop flights will also operate between New York LaGuardia and Kansas City during the group stage and between Atlanta and Kansas City during the quarterfinals, giving fans more direct ways to follow their teams.

These adjustments help travelers navigate a uniquely dispersed tournament, with games staged from Vancouver to Mexico City and across major U.S. cities. By increasing connections in advance, American aims to alleviate congestion and ensure passengers can move efficiently between matches.

New Loyalty Benefits and Fan-Focused Initiatives

Beyond additional flights, American is offering exclusive access for AAdvantage members hoping to secure World Cup tickets. Beginning December 17, loyalty members can redeem miles for match tickets in a staggered release based on status level.

Top-tier members such as ConciergeKey and Executive Platinum receive the earliest access, followed by other elite tiers on December 18, and finally all members on December 19. The airline will send personalized app notifications to ensure fans don’t miss their booking window.

American is also celebrating its role as the Official North American Airline Supplier for FIFA World Cup 2026 with special decals across its entire domestic fleet of more than 1,550 aircraft.

The branding rollout accompanies a national marketing campaign, including digital content and a broadcast spot titled “Fandom Takes Flight,” designed to capture the excitement around next summer’s global event.

By combining expanded service with fan-centric perks, American Airlines is positioning itself as a key travel partner for supporters navigating the continent-wide tournament.

Tern Expands Its Platform with New Booking Tools and Travel Insurance Integration for Advisors

Tern is introducing direct booking capabilities and new insurance partnerships, giving travel advisors a faster, more seamless way to handle trip planning and protection.

Tern, the travel advisor technology platform launched in 2022, is entering a new phase of growth with the rollout of direct booking capabilities and upcoming travel insurance integrations.

For advisors who rely on Tern for itinerary building, CRM management, and commission tracking, the latest updates aim to create a more streamlined, all-in-one workflow. Instead of shifting between systems, advisors can now access bookable content directly through the platform, starting with tours, attractions, and activities sourced from Project Expedition.

This expansion reflects a long-standing request from advisors, who have pushed for faster, more efficient ways to manage client trips. According to Tern CEO David Shull, the company designed this upgrade to eliminate friction in the planning process. Advisors can now search Project Expedition’s full catalog, add tours to itineraries, generate accurate quotes, and complete bookings within the same space they already use for managing clients.

The integration preserves a fundamental part of Tern’s identity: the platform facilitates the transaction but does not operate as a host agency. Advisors retain full commission rights, along with their existing relationships with clients and suppliers.

With more than $1 billion in bookings already processed through Tern’s tools, the addition of bookable content marks a significant step in expanding the platform’s functionality. Shull emphasized that the collaboration with Project Expedition was a natural fit, as both companies share a focus on making tour content more accessible and simplifying the advisor workflow. By centralizing itinerary creation and booking tasks, Tern aims to give advisors more time to focus on personalized service rather than administrative tasks.

Another major enhancement is coming soon: integrated travel insurance. Within the next six months, advisors will be able to compare quotes and facilitate client purchases from four leading insurance providers – Arch RoamRight, Faye, Trawick International, and Travel Insured International.

The goal is to embed travel protection seamlessly into the trip-building process, making it easier for advisors to offer comprehensive trip coverage without leaving the platform. Insurance partners have welcomed the collaboration, noting that streamlined access to protection plans helps advisors work more confidently and efficiently.

By keeping advisors at the center of the booking process and expanding the tools available to them, Tern continues to position itself as a modern, advisor-first solution. These upgrades reflect a clear shift in the travel industry toward platforms that unify trip management, booking, and client communication.

As Tern adds more capabilities, the platform is evolving into a comprehensive hub designed to support advisors at every stage of the travel planning journey, while preserving the independence and client relationships that define the profession.

Abu Dhabi has officially opened the Zayed National Museum, a landmark cultural institution dedicated to telling the story of the United Arab Emirates and honoring the legacy of the nation’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Located in the heart of the Saadiyat Cultural District, the museum is already being hailed as a transformative addition to the UAE’s cultural landscape, marking the culmination of an extraordinary year that also saw the openings of major institutions such as teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi and the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi.

Designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, the museum stands as a striking architectural icon. Its five soaring steel towers, shaped like falcon feathers, symbolize both national identity and the UAE’s forward-looking spirit. The building’s presence alone reflects the blend of heritage and innovation that defines the museum’s purpose, serving as a bridge between past, present, and future.

Inside, visitors embark on an immersive journey stretching across 300,000 years of human history in the region. The museum houses more than 1,500 artifacts within six permanent galleries, each offering a unique perspective on the formation of Emirati culture. These galleries explore the UAE’s natural landscapes, archaeological discoveries, early trade connections, and the customs that shaped the identity of the seven emirates.

One gallery is dedicated entirely to Sheikh Zayed, featuring personal items, archival materials, and audiovisual content that illuminate his vision for unity, nation-building, and cultural preservation.

As visitors move through spaces that incorporate interactive media, reconstructed heritage items, and multi-sensory installations, the museum emphasizes four elements that define Emirati identity: Geography, Innovation, Exchange, and Faith. Beginning with The Path Garden, a 600-meter outdoor gallery, the journey extends into indoor exhibits that highlight early human tools, maritime traditions, Bedouin craftsmanship, and the country’s rapid evolution into a modern state.

To celebrate the opening, a month-long program themed “Rooted Heritage, Living Legacy” offers performances, workshops, and cultural experiences across the museum’s indoor and outdoor spaces. Visitors can enjoy traditional dances such as Al-Razfa and Al-Naashat, poetic Taghrooda chants, mountain call performances, and coastal songs. Hands-on workshops provide opportunities to explore traditional crafts, while guided tours offer deeper insight into the museum’s collections and narrative.

Dining and retail experiences complement the visit, including Iirth Restaurant, Al Ghaf Café, and the Al Naqwa gift shop, where items inspired by the museum’s artifacts and stories are available. These amenities emphasize the museum’s goal of creating a welcoming, educational, and engaging destination for both residents and international visitors.

The Zayed National Museum is more than a showcase of history; it is an institution designed to inspire the next generation of scholars, curators, and cultural leaders. By honoring Sheikh Zayed’s belief that history carries essential lessons for the future, the museum reinforces the UAE’s commitment to preserving heritage while fostering innovation and global cultural dialogue.

With its breathtaking design, rich storytelling, and deep cultural resonance, the museum stands as a new beacon on Saadiyat Island and a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to understand the soul of the UAE.

ITA Airways is strengthening its presence in the United States with the launch of a new nonstop route connecting Rome Fiumicino and Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Beginning May 1, 2026, the seasonal service marks the first direct air link between the two cities, opening new opportunities for business and leisure travel between Italy and Texas.

The route will start with three weekly flights throughout May, operating on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. From June through October, frequencies will increase to five weekly flights, adding Monday and Saturday to the schedule.

The new service will be operated by the Airbus A330-900, ITA Airways’ flagship long-haul aircraft known for its modern cabin design and fuel-efficient performance. Flights from Rome will depart late morning, arriving in Houston mid-afternoon, while the return flight will leave Texas early evening and land in Rome the following day.

This timing allows for smooth onward connections through Fiumicino, where ITA maintains an extensive network of European and domestic destinations. The addition of Houston also brings ITA’s North American network to nine cities, joining New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D.C., as well as seasonal flights to Chicago and Toronto.

For ITA Airways, the route represents a strategic expansion in its most important international market. CEO Joerg Eberhart emphasized that the U.S. remains central to the airline’s long-haul growth plan and plays a key role in its upcoming integration into the Lufthansa Group.

The airline is also preparing to join Star Alliance in 2026, which will significantly enhance its global connectivity. Houston’s status as a major hub for energy, medical research and international business makes it a natural addition to ITA’s U.S. network, offering strong commercial demand and access to one of the country’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions.

Local leaders in Houston have welcomed the announcement, noting the cultural and economic ties that will deepen with a direct link to Italy. The flight is expected to generate increased inbound tourism while providing new options for travelers heading to Europe and the Mediterranean via ITA’s Rome hub.

The launch follows expanded codeshare agreements with United Airlines and Air Canada, which further improve travel flexibility for passengers connecting across North America.

As ITA Airways continues to build its long-haul operations, the Rome–Houston route highlights the airline’s commitment to expanding global access and reinforcing Rome Fiumicino’s role as a key transatlantic gateway. With a modern fleet and a growing partnership network, ITA is positioning itself for stronger competitive presence in the U.S. market and sustained international growth.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is entering a defining chapter in its luxury growth strategy, marked by new leadership and a robust slate of global openings planned for 2026. The company announced these developments at ILTM Cannes, highlighting both expanded brand vision and an accelerated pipeline of high-end properties designed to meet rising demand for personalized and immersive travel experiences.

With nearly 125 luxury hotels already in operation and more than 170 additional properties in development, Hyatt continues to position itself as one of the most forward-thinking players in the global luxury market.

Central to this next phase is the appointment of Tamara Lohan as Global Brand Leader – Luxury on an interim basis. Lohan, who joined Hyatt through its acquisition of the boutique platform Mr & Mrs Smith, brings more than two decades of expertise in independently driven luxury hospitality.

Known for her emphasis on design integrity and experiential travel, she will oversee brand consistency and strategic direction across Hyatt’s luxury portfolio, which spans Park Hyatt, Alila, Miraval, Impression by Secrets and The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Her leadership further deepens Hyatt’s focus on storytelling, personalization and destination-led design.

One of Hyatt’s most anticipated 2026 openings is Miraval The Red Sea, a milestone for the wellness-focused brand as it expands internationally for the first time.

Situated on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island, the adults-only retreat will include 180 guestrooms and suites, extensive wellbeing programming and the largest spa in the region. Its debut reflects the global rise of transformative travel, with nearly half of luxury travelers prioritizing deeply personal and restorative experiences.

The property’s dramatic coastal setting and expansive facilities position it as a flagship for wellness seekers across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has officially opened three new properties in Shanghai’s emerging Lingang area, establishing a large-scale hospitality destination designed to meet the needs of business travelers, leisure guests, and long-stay visitors.

The new hotels – Hyatt Regency Shanghai Lingang, Hyatt Place Shanghai Lingang Xinchen International Conference Center, and Hyatt Place Shanghai Lingang – occupy a prime location in the heart of the district, offering convenient access to major attractions such as the Shanghai Astronomy Museum, Dishui Lake, Haichang Ocean Park, and L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort. With Metro Line 16 just steps away, guests can easily travel to central Shanghai and other parts of the city.

The three hotels operate under a shared vision of “artistic exploration,” with each property incorporating sculptures, installations, and artwork that celebrate Lingang’s maritime heritage. Hyatt Regency Shanghai Lingang features gallery-inspired spaces and 305 guestrooms overlooking Dishui Lake. Some rooms offer exclusive views of weekend fireworks, while themed family rooms provide an inspiring experience for travelers with children.

Guests can choose from six dining venues, enjoy pet-friendly accommodations, and take advantage of nearly 53,000 square feet of event space. A 24-hour fitness center and a two-story kids’ club add to the property’s appeal as a well-rounded destination for families and groups.

Connected to the Regency via an indoor sky bridge, Hyatt Place Shanghai Lingang Xinchen International Conference Center caters to business travelers with 364 rooms and a modern collection of flexible meeting venues. Families will also find the hotel welcoming, thanks to dedicated family room designs and access to the nearby attractions around Dishui Lake. The property’s multi-level event spaces are designed to support large conferences, streamlined meetings, and business gatherings.

Completing the trio, Hyatt Place Shanghai Lingang offers 128 rooms tailored to extended-stay guests. Kitchenettes, refrigerators, and in-room washer-dryers provide the comforts of home, making the hotel a practical choice for long-term visitors, relocating families, and business travelers staying for multiple weeks. Together, the three hotels create a unified destination within Lingang, offering guests a seamless blend of comfort, convenience, and artistic design.

World of Hyatt members can earn an additional 500 Bonus Points per qualifying night at the new hotels through February 28, 2026. The offer applies automatically, allowing members to enjoy extra rewards as they experience the newest additions to Hyatt’s expanding portfolio.

Hyatt’s expansion in Lingang underscores the district’s rapid growth and its increasing importance as a hub for business, innovation, and leisure in Shanghai. By offering three distinct yet complementary hotels, Hyatt is positioning the area as a vibrant, multifaceted destination for travelers from around the world.

Trump Administration Launches Major Initiative to Rebuild Washington Dulles International Airport

The Trump administration has unveiled an ambitious plan to overhaul Washington Dulles International Airport, seeking proposals for entirely new terminals and concourses to transform it into a world-class gateway for the capital.

The Trump administration has unveiled an expansive initiative to transform Washington Dulles International Airport into a modern and efficient global gateway.

Announced by U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy, the effort invites developers, architects and engineers to propose designs for fully new terminals and concourses, signaling one of the most significant federal aviation redevelopment moves in years.

The plan reflects a belief that the current facilities do not represent the stature of the nation’s capital, despite ongoing projects by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

Officials point to outdated concourses, limited gate capacity and the long-criticized “mobile lounge” system as core issues. The mobile lounges, which transport passengers between terminals and gates, have faced multiple safety incidents, highlighting concerns about their long-term viability. While MWAA already has a $7 billion plan underway, the Department of Transportation argues that a far more comprehensive rebuild is needed to achieve a world-class standard.

President Trump has called Dulles a “bad airport” with a good building but poor functionality, noting a desire to create a more seamless and globally competitive travel experience.

A Push for Modernization and Private-Sector Collaboration

The initiative calls for public-private partnership proposals through a newly issued Request for Information. The submissions will help guide the design, financing and execution of a sweeping redevelopment that could include replacing the historic Eero Saarinen terminal or significantly modifying it. Once the proposals are reviewed, USDOT intends to work closely with MWAA to integrate viable concepts into the airport’s long-term plan.

The announcement comes as Dulles undergoes its own modernization efforts, including a 14-gate concourse scheduled to open next year with direct access to the AeroTrain system. Still, officials argue the airport needs a more complete reimagining to handle future demand. Dulles currently serves around 27 million passengers annually, with long-term plans to accommodate up to 90 million travelers and more than 200 gates.

Major stakeholders, including United Airlines, which operates a significant hub at Dulles, have expressed interest in collaborating on infrastructure improvements. Aviation experts, however, are divided. Some caution that air traffic control modernization should remain a higher national priority, while others agree that Dulles must address its outdated people mover system and overall passenger experience.

Despite differing perspectives, the administration’s push marks a decisive step toward reshaping the capital’s international airport. The redevelopment effort seeks to create an efficient, visually iconic and globally competitive facility that can meet both current needs and long-term growth. As proposals begin to arrive, the future of Dulles is poised for significant change, setting the stage for a potential transformation of travel into the heart of Washington, D.C.

US Halts Citizenship Ceremonies for Migrants from Travel Ban Countries

The U.S. has paused citizenship ceremonies and immigration case decisions for nationals from 19 travel ban countries, marking a sweeping expansion of recent restrictions.

The United States has paused naturalization ceremonies and halted final decisions on immigration cases for people from 19 designated travel ban countries, marking one of the most sweeping changes to federal immigration processing in recent years.

The directive, outlined in an internal memo from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, instructs officers to stop all final adjudications for applicants from these nations, affecting citizenship oaths, green card reviews, and other benefits. The move comes as the administration signals plans to expand the list from 19 countries to as many as 30.

The pause follows a deadly shooting in Washington, D.C., where a National Guard soldier was killed and another critically injured. The suspect, an Afghan national living in the U.S., had entered the country under a program designed to protect Afghans who assisted American forces. The incident intensified political pressure on the administration to act quickly on immigration controls, reinforcing a broader message that immigration vetting must be tightened in the name of national security.

Officials emphasized that the suspension is comprehensive. All types of immigration forms tied to applicants from affected countries are on hold, with officers barred from issuing approvals, denials, or conducting oath ceremonies until further notice. The memo stresses that “citizenship is a privilege, not a right,” a sentiment echoed publicly by Homeland Security officials who have described the pause as necessary to ensure that only the “best of the best” are granted U.S. citizenship.

Immigration attorneys say the move has already disrupted long-planned naturalization ceremonies. Clients from Venezuela, Iran, Afghanistan, and other listed nations have reported canceled appointments with little explanation. For many, the sudden stop comes after years of waiting; the naturalization process commonly takes five years or more, culminating in a ceremony where new citizens pledge their allegiance to the United States.

The list of 19 countries includes Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, Equatorial Guinea, and Venezuela. Officials have confirmed the administration is reviewing additional countries for possible inclusion, though no specifics have been announced. The Department of Homeland Security has also placed all pending asylum decisions under review, extending the scope of the current immigration freeze.

For affected families, the uncertainty is mounting. Naturalization ceremonies often represent the end of a long journey toward stability and belonging, and for now, the final steps are out of reach. As the administration reassesses immigration benefits issued under previous policies, applicants from the listed countries await clarity on when – or if – their cases will move forward.
